With the Warming Winter Reds Dozen you can treat your taste buds with a Shiraz duo of Moss Brothers’ 94pt Fidium from Margaret River, enjoy Eat Cake a new arrival from Zonte’s Footstep’s McLaren Vale vineyards. Tuck into succulent Grenache, grown on Sevenhill’s Inigo Vineyard, welcome a good Aussie Merlot from masters of the grape at Irvine, and relish a Durif duo of Sam Trimboli’s bestselling Black Duck, and freshly landed Left Bank Petite Sirah. The Barossa Shiraz Showcase Dozen features Baron Von Nemesis, winner of a top Trophy, Platinum and Gold, and Corryton Burge, a new label to our cellars, from sixth-generation Barossa siblings Trent and Amelia Burge. Krondorf's ‘Into the Vines’ won Double Gold on debut and there's a second Gold-winning debutante in the regal RedHeads King of the Barossa. Mountadam's Five-Fifty is always a pleasure and Tscharke's Shiraz Shiraz Shiraz balances fruit from three sub-regions to great effect.
Enjoy all of the above (and we're sure you will) and save $334 PLUS take home a FREE magnum as well.
In 1847, the people of Krondorf began a wine industry that helped lay the foundation for what the Barossa is today. As custodians of this legacy Nick Badrice heads the winemaking team that crafts modern expressions of signature Barossa varietals. Look for fresh aromas of raspberry and dark berry, bright and textural redcurrants with a hint of spice. Elegant and refined with subtle oak, a persistent length and a supple tannin finish. This one, which has scooped a Double Gold in its debut vintage, is a real treat for the senses!
Located in the High Eden sub-region of the Barossa, Mountadam was originally established in 1972 by the late David Wynn for his winemaking son Adam. Since 2005, it has returned to being a family owned and run winery, with David and Jenni Brown overseeing its success. Quality has got better and better, and now with Caitlin Brown as chief winemaker, they have a very fine and deserved reputation indeed. High Eden’s chilly heights lead to harvests up to a month later than those in neighbouring Eden Valley. The result is gorgeous Shiraz like this, full of blue fruit and peppery acidity. “Wonderfully ripe and perfumed on the nose showing black/blueberry, violet, clove and spicy oak aromas, followed by a beautifully weighted palate offering fleshy texture and silky tannins. Upfront and delectably appealing… 93pts” (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit).
Corryton Burge's 92pt Barossa Shiraz showcases lifted aromas of chocolate-coated raspberry licorice, nutmeg, cheesecake and underlying smoky, toasty oak. Displaying characteristics seen in many Shiraz dominant wines from the region from the exceptional 2020 vintage. The palate is rich and bold with its fruit and chocolate flavours however the tannin levels are subdued, leaving the palate with a sense of rounded readiness for immediate enjoyment. The flavours of milk chocolate and sweet spice linger. Half the wine was aged in oak for 10 months, and the other aged for 18 months. Predominately American oak barrels with about 30% French oak. Only a small percentage of new oak, allowing the fruit's freshness and vibrancy to shine through. "Splendidly fruited and fragrant, the wine shows dark cherry, rich floral, game and toasted almond characters on the nose, leading to a succulent palate that's medium-full and supple. Beautifully rounded and silky, well framed by grainy tannins, finishing lingering and structured... 92pts" (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit).
We’re thrilled to introduce the second vintage of Ruth’s Block Shiraz – a fine Barossa Shiraz made exclusively for us. Selected from the estate's Ebenezer vineyard, named in honour of the late Ruth Miles, mother of Peter Miles and wife of Brian Miles. As our buyer said on the wine's creation, “Having a winery the calibre of Irvine make a wine just for us is a big deal. Mostly because they don’t need to. They already sell everything they make. So when Irvine agreed, it was mostly because they like us.” It’s nice to be liked! And it means some exceptional wines for you – at extraordinary prices. Like this one right here. Irvine Estate is home to Barossa vineyards that date back to 1867. The estate is famous for its majestic Merlot but Irvine Estate is sending ripples around the industry with its old-vine Shiraz as well. Indeed, Irvine took home the Trophy for 'Best Barossa Shiraz' at the Barossa Valley Wine Show in 2017, ahead of BIG Barossa names like Teusner, Grant Burge, Peter Lehmann, St Hallett and Thorn-Clarke!
For this brand new premium Aussie red, the RedHeads team sought out the region’s best growers, prised the finest fruit from their top vineyards, added some winemaking magic at their state of the art, fully sustainable winery, and delivered it in a classic, old-school Barossa bottle! It’s rich, bold, intense, and already a Gold winner. A regal drop indeed!
Tscharke are leading the way with organic wines that reflect the terroir and the personality of the fruit. In their high scoring Shiraz Shiraz Shiraz, which uses fruit from three separate vineyards in the Barossa sub region of Marananga, they bring to life aromas of blueberry and plum with a vibrant fresh quality, while an underlying gamey and dusty savouriness complements the fruit. The palate is explosive and juicy with cherry, plum and forest berries, supported by hints of spices that stretch into the textural finish. Well balanced structure thanks to the crunchy acidity, full body and fine tannins. It boasts scores of 94 and 92pts.
