Personal Wine Advisor
I’m a family man, any spare time I have I prefer to spend it with my family. Hobbies include
playing cricket, gardening and the great outdoors.
I must say I do enjoy all grape varietals, but if I had to pick one particular combination
of
grape and region it would have to be McLaren Vale Shiraz, nothing quite like the ripeness
and
texture of red wines from a Mediterranean climate.
Favourite Wine? There’s so many, I’d have to mention Chapel Hill The Prophet McLaren Vale
Shiraz
by Michael Fragos. I love the soft tannin structure that Shiraz can offer; in particular the
mature ones where there are oak integrated secondary characters.
I have worked for Laithwaites for 10 years, during this time I’ve developed a knack for
matching
the right wine to the right palate. In this time I’ve had a colourful career at Laithwaites
with
highlights including progressing from a Personal Wine Advisor to an Outbound Sales Team
Leader;
to working as a cellar hand during the vintage of 2015 at Redheads Winery in the Barossa
Valley.
Something about me:
Originally from Lancashire, UK. I’ve lived in 6 different countries.
Favourite/Go-To Wine:
Dandelion Vineyards Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz. I generally love anything full bodied
and
red, but recently I am also enjoying Pinot Noirs and lighter European Wines.
Expertise:
1 year in the wine industry and over 15 years of tasting experience. Currently undertaking
WSET
2 certification.
Cam here, wine lover, German Shepherd owner. I always enjoy a good chat, especially a
hilarious
one.
Favourite wines are fruit driven shiraz and dry rieslings but I’m always happy to try
something
new and be surprised by something out of the box.
My expertise is creating custom offers for my customers. Having been working for Laithwaites
for
almost 10 years. I love trying all our new products to see what customers might love.
Meeting a
new customer, I like to have a quick catch up to see what they are enjoying at the moment
and
then I do what I do best and create an order just for them at the best price possible. Then
next
time we can have a chat about it and catch up.
About me:
I was born in Australia (even though I have an Irish accent) and have spent my life moving
around between Ireland and Australia before settling here around 11 years ago. I love to
travel
whenever possible and enjoy spending my free time with my family (especially my cheeky
little
boy). Oh and did I mention that I love drinking wine?
Favourite/Go to wine
So many favourites it's hard to choose! My go to styles are generally Shiraz or Cab Sauv.
Some
of my favourites would have to be the Kilikanoon Testament Barossa Valley Shiraz,
Thornclarke
Shotfire Shiraz, The Marauding Vintners Capt. Cabernet, Claymore Wines (especially the Dark
Side
of the Moon and Nirvana Reserve Shiraz), The Black Pig (particularly the reserve Shiraz and
Cabernet) and the McPhersons XV Pure to name a few (the list goes on!).
Expertise on wines:
Completed the WSET L2 with Merit in 2022. Extensive experience in the hospitality industry
and
even picked grapes for the experience of it all many moons ago!
Something about you:
I'm a big rugby league and Canberra Raiders fan. I relish spending time with my young family
as
well as fishing and camping.
Your favourite/go to wine:
I love Shiraz and Riesling. The Kilikanoon Settlement Block Shiraz is my current favourite
wine
and the Clare Valley is my favourite region.
Your expertise on wines:
I enjoy chatting to my customers and sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm about wine with
them. I
have worked in the wine industry for over 5 years and I love getting top quality wine deals
at
affordable prices for my customers.
Something about you:
My passions are anything fine – dining, art, and wine!
Your favourite/go to wine:
Though there’s enjoyment to be found in every grape variety, I love a creamy chardonnay, meaty Merlot, a full-fruit Rioja, or structured Shiraz Cabernet. My favourite thing about wine is how the right choice can converse with its perfect food pairing.
Your expertise on wines:
I became a wine-lover ten years ago while working in the hospitality industry. Working in the wine bar within a large hotel encouraged my interest in fascinating and complimentary food and wine pairings. WSET-2 certified, my strength as a Personal Wine Advisor is developing an intricate understanding of your palette to make the best recommendations possible – plus, the drops I recommend are always tried and tested by yours truly!
One-on-one consultation to understand your wine palate. You’ll be asked questions related to
