"Elegantly styled and delightfully expressed, the wine shows ripe stone fruit, nougat, lemon pith and oatmeal nuances, followed by a finely flowing palate that's gently weighted and creamy. Thistledown was started by friends Giles Cooke and Fergal TynanIn, who had met when studying for the Masters of Wine exams. In their fun-loving 92pt Thistledown Cloud Cuckoo Land, Italian varietals from the Riverland come together in harmony. A vibrant, textural white with hints of almond blossom, quince and ripe pear, it's tangy, almost exotic, but pithy and delicious. It makes a great aperitif – Ned Goodwin MW in The Halliday Wine Companion asks if it might be "the best in the country?".

They know the real deal is often found off the beaten track, and devote time to tracking down the genuine characters. French born, Ms S still reigns in Bordeaux, select Loire venues and on stages in Sauternes, but is now a world fashion icon. A superstar in New Zealand with performances of impact and intensity, she might appear elsewhere in tropical guise, or adopt a smoky mystique and the name 'Fumé'. She flirts with partners, but proudly sports her Ms title. Here in Adelaide Hills, she's chilled and relaxed, combining fresh tropical charm and chic, crisp elegance. Lovely passionfruit, lime and lemongrass aromas. Crisp and crunchy palate with tightly-wound, refreshing acidity. At the centre, a refined fruit core of peach, lemon and gooseberry made textural with slate-like minerality.

The Clare Valley's dynamic Claymore Wines celebrates a love of wine, music and football (of the round ball type). Their labels celebrate some of the winemaker's favourite albums and songs. "This label, true to its musical roots, represents a regional collaboration with local Clare Valley grape grower partners to showcase our region's Queen at its best. This regional blend comprises selected parcels from both our Estate Watervale Riesling vineyards along with parcels from Auburn and Sevenhill." A delicious Riesling that's won Gold and 94pts. Situated within the traditional lands of the Taungurung people, tabilk-tabilk means ‘place of many waterholes', a name that aptly describes the abundance of the landscape. Tahbilk is a founding member of Australia’s First Families of Wine, it was also the proud recipient of James Halliday’s Winery of the Year award in 2016. Its renowned Marsanne, steely when young, silkily textured with time, are an absolute must-try, and this 2021 vintage is "… a deadset gold medal... 95pts. Great Value" (James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion). Be enthralled by intense lemon, lime and tropical aromas, honeysuckle and spicy notes with a steely minerality.
