Today, fifth-generation Victoria and Richard Angove run the business, while Sophie Angove oversees viticulture, at the cellar that Dr William Angove started in 1886 near Adelaide (by making award winning brandy – a product they’re still famous for). The new generation continue to pioneer modern styles of wine with a focus on sustainability. Having long since moved away from the weighty, golden, heavily oaked Chardonnays of last century, this beauty embraces bright stone fruit, shot through by lemony brilliance. No wonder the great Chardonnay grape is back in favour.
5 Red Star Angove is one of Australia's oldest family owned wineries, founded in 1886. They have access to some of the finest fruit in the best reds regions of South Australia. The Angove Bin 4288 Cabernet Sauvignon is exclusively and carefully crafted from grapes grown in the Coonawarra for our customers. The fruit from the 2020 vintage was fantastic – small berries, great fruit concentration and lovely tannins. Warm days and cool nights provided the perfect ripening conditions for Coonawarra’s signature variety, Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon arriving at Angove's 110-year-old winery, the Cabernet grapes were gently destemmed and placed in small open fermenters. Regionally distinctive blackcurrant, spearmint and eucalypt aromas are followed by a full palate with brooding blackberry fruit and supple, mouth-filling structure. For an added layer of fruit complexity, mocha richness and overall elegance, the winemakers blended in a tiny portion (7%) of McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon.

This Limited Release Shiraz has been carefully crafted from grapes grown in blocks in the Stockwell area to the north of the Barossa region, Bethany in the south and Angaston to the east. Upon arriving at Angove's 110-year-old winery, the Shiraz grapes were gently destemmed and placed in small open fermenters. The wine was carefully plunged and pumped over twice daily to coax colour and flavour from the skins. The resulting Shiraz reflects Angove's philosophy of letting the Barossa Valley soils and environment express themselves through the wine (with some subtle American oak characters too!).This Barossa beauty is powerfully rich, plush, velvety and intense... serve it with your finest cuts of meat.
