Wine Summary
Founded in 1836, Houghton is part of Western Australia History. Established in the early days of the Swan Valley, it’s colourful history includes tales of pioneer Scots, bandits, and generations of winemaking craftsmanship. The Jack Mann Cabernet Sauvignon is Houghton's iconic flagship red, named in honour of the late, great Jack Mann, who was Houghton's winemaker from 1922 to 1973. The 2019 is a single vineyard Cabernet from the Justin Vineyard in the Frankland River sub-region of the Great Southern. The vintage was characterized by persistent cool and dry conditions resulting in a fuller, riper red with fine structured tannins. The palate is full-bodied with rich and sumptuous layers resulting in a wine with intensity, power and elegance. The dense, firm, fine grained tannin is beautifully integrated with the fruit and oak. Outstanding intensity, structure and balance will ensure great ageing potential.
