Bleasdale, still owned and tun by the Potts family has had 165 years of uninterrupted winemaking – and right now is at an all time high. Among many major awards, they’ve won the Jimmy Watson Trophy, Max Schubert Trophy, Halliday's Winemaker of the Year award the 2024 Halliday Wine Companion Awards 'Winery of the Year'. When first released Halliday suggested that this beautiful Langhorne Creek Syrah would need a year to relax and open up. It's had its 12 months and, Halliday is right again, it is drinking beautifully.

Courtesy of our good friends, the Marauding Vintners, who know exactly where to find the best wines and genuine characters – meet Doctor Durif. The back label tells her story. Unable to settle in her native France, the good doctor has found climates much more to her liking in California and in spots across South and South Eastern Australia. A smooth operator,mostly seen alone (at times using a pseudonym), she actually mixes easily. Her easy charm can mask her dark side, complexity and genuine depth, but given her frequent extremepopularity it’s odd she’s not more widely known. Dark, deep, a bit spicy and an infectious easy charm. We think you're going to love her.

After enjoying a “distinguished career as a winemaker spanning over 20 years, working for some of Australia’s largest wineries” (Halliday), John Quarisa is making his own wines – his own way. The result? Mile upon mile of excellent wines! Fragrant cassis, ripe plum with hints of mint and subtle cedar oak aromas, followed by rich black fruit, sweet plum and fine grain tannins across the palate. A soft, generous Cabernet which pairs perfectly with duck or rabbit. This wine has the flavour, structure and balance to be enjoyed now or offers added satisfaction from further cellaring.

The powerful dark fruits and spice of Shiraz combine seamlessly with the brighter red fruits of Tempranillo and the astringent, tannic, black olive qualities of Sagrantino. 20 years ago, a lightbulb moment resulted in the creation of RedHeads by Tony and Tom Laithwaite. It was a no-gimmicks, no-rules cellar where young, talented (and rebellious) winemakers could moonlight and make small-batch wines that really rocked their boat. Growers started bringing in pick-up loads of their best grapes they wanted 'rescuing' from the mega-blends. RedHeads winemakers began to gain a reputation as the ‘Robinhood of grapes’ – saving parcels to make into handcrafted wines. So popular, the cellar outgrew its original home and, for a few years, it moved from shed to shed. Finally it bought its own vineyard and built a state-of-the-art, off-grid, solar-powered eco winery. RedHeads by name, green by nature, with awards galore.
