Whites include two elegant Chardonnays, a dazzling Margaret River Riesling, shining with Gold, a cool, classy Eden Valley Pinot Gris, and more. All top favourites with our customers – taste and see why! In reds, savour a fighting fit Durif and regal Cabernet from the great Bill Calabria, lavish Shiraz from McLaren Vale and the Barossa, and more. A gorgeous assortment you are sure to love.
The Scarpantoni brothers of McLaren Vale have won many of Australia’s most prestigious winemaking awards, including the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy. While the Vale is well-known for its dark, chocolatey Shiraz, visitors are often seen leaving with handfuls of their vibrant whites – like this gorgeous Chardonnay. Classic, ripe Chardonnay flavours of peaches, lychee and melon make this a very lively white wine. The crisp, clean finish makes it the perfect pair to a whole range of white meat dishes.
Indulge in some Coonawarra perfection: “The Australian wine industry worked out relatively early on that it had the perfect spot for Cabernet Sauvignon and that spot was Coonawarra” (Jancis Robinson). The Italian families of the Riverina have been producing royally good wines for years and now the secret is out! In critic James Halliday’s words... Calabria Family Wines “consistently delivers exceptional value for money across the entire range”. Did you know? Bill Calabria, the leading light behind this wine, received a Queen’s Birthday Honour for his services to charity and the wine industry as a whole. Lovely intensity of rich fruit with layers of blackcurrant and herb flavours and spicy toasty oak notes. The tannins are firm, the finish smooth, long and powerful.
The Angaston Road Growers range is all about honouring the often unsung heroes of the wine world, the growers. It is their intimate knowledge of the local terroir, the changes of season, and the varietals they tend to that ensure the special parcels of fruit that make it to the winery are in tip-top form to make quality wines like this stunning Sauvignon Blanc. The wine recognises Rae Clark, a proud vigneron who has been working in the wine industry for around 30 years. She is a passionate advocate for improving biodiversity through sustainable vineyard practices in her home region of Coonawarra. And when it came to finding the best selection of Sauvignon Blanc for this new wine, the winemakers knew instantly to reach out to Rae. Aromas of passionfruit, pineapple and other tropical delights leap from the glass, backed up by a palate of spritely guava and gooseberry with a lively citrus finish.
A memorable Durif, awash with lush black fruit and spice that comes in an appropriately distinctive bottle. Bill Calabria has won Trophy after Trophy for his wines – including the prestigious Stoddart. He has been on a short list for the Jimmy Watson Award at least twice, His ‘3 Bridges’ alone has been recognised at the Sydney International Wine Competition, as ‘Most Successful Winery or Brand'… he’s been praised by Robert Parker and Halliday who’s placed four wines within his 1001 Top Wines. He was a local boxing champion as a teenager, winning 12 out of 13 fights (with seven KOs) before his mum found out and put a stop to it. “I made a lot of friends out of boxing,” he says. It’s given him rare opportunities including sparring with the Australian champion, and has also come in handy in other ways. A few years ago he confronted three men who’d come to the winery to steal wine. After they started throwing punches Bill fought back, literally knocked some teeth out, and they fled empty handed. This is an unashamedly weighty, full flavoured red with masses of lush black fruit, spice, liquorice and herbal hints and a toasty oak finish.
A bright and lively way to start any evening. The Miles From Nowhere Riesling expresses a zest for life. Every glass takes you to the south west of Australia, where the locals relax with glass in hand watching the sun set over the ocean. The Riesling is sourced from a single vineyard located in the Wallcliffe area of the Margaret River. The vines are over 30 years old and are managed with minimal intervention Aromas of lime leaf and lemon verbena. The crisp acidity lends an austere focus to the attack. Fresh fruit, honeyed notes and lees texture add a moreish complexity.
The Guglielmino family pride themselves on their relationships with their growers and they created this label in honour of them. This delicious Chardonnay comes from the vineyards of Dino Salvestrin, a long term grower for the family’s Mino & Co label. Look forward to fresh white nectarine, stone fruit and a citrus hit.
The Marsc Wine Co. pairs up prestige vineyard sites with acclaimed winemakers all under a ‘masked label’. We can’t tell you who made this, but trust us, you’d be impressed if you knew! For top quality Australian Semillon, it's hard to beat the Barossa Valley wine region. Endless warm sunshine days and cold valley nights make the perfect conditions for achieving optimal ripeness. Instead of blending their top quality Barossa Semillon with typical Sauv Blanc, the winemaker behind this special wine has reached for a similarly aromatic, tropical and citrus-zipped white. Fiano has it all, and a brilliant textural quality which really enhances the blend.
As you can imagine, the folk who live on Strout Road in McLaren Vale have heard a lot of trout jokes. If you can’t beat them, join them, say the Strout Road Vintners. The Strout Road Vintners LOVE their Cabernet Malbec and Malbec Cabernet blends, and it’s a style that’s really taking off. This is a beautifully plush red where juicy blueberry-rich Malbec is surrounded by dark, cassis-laden Cabernet. The result coats the mouth and finishes long. A must-bring for your next barbecue.
Located in the High Eden sub-region of the Barossa, Mountadam was originally established in 1972 by the late David Wynn for his winemaking son Adam. Since 2005, it has returned to being a family owned and run winery, with David and Jenni Brown overseeing its success. With Phil Lehmann, the son of Peter Lehmann, as chief winemaker, they are going from strength-to-strength. High Eden’s chilly heights lead to harvests up to a month later than those in neighbouring Eden Valley. This dazzling Pinot Gris displays vibrant lemon colour, delightful apple, white melon, pear and yellow peach aromas. Juicy and textural with a clean mix of white fruit, great balance between fruit sweetness and savoury elements, soft slatey minerality and a fruit-forward finish. “Pale straw in the glass with characters of nashi pear, grapefruit, nectarine, soft spice, clotted cream and stone. Just a tinge of gewürztraminer in the wine adds some textural components and a shimmer of exotic spice/fruit notes ... think rose petal and a liminal waft of Turkish delight,. The wine then coils with stony intent and sails off into the distance, a light phenolic and citrus wake marking its passage... 92pts" (Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion).
Produced from hand-selected fruit from top McLaren Vale vineyards, The Black Pig Shiraz leaps from the glass with sumptuous, rich and ripe blackcurrant tones and vanilla snippets. Oozing lashings of cedar, ripe berries and hints of chocolate this stunning Shiraz is the kind of wine that can drink now with ease, or be laid down for another 8 or so years. Shiraz drinking perfection.
Angove make wine from all over South Australia, but McLaren Vale is one of their favourite stomping grounds. They have access to some of the finest vineyards in the vale and the best parcels of special fruit. Their hand-crafted wines show off the region’s expressive style to perfection. Here, dark chocolate, plum, and morello cherry flavours meld with delicious spice and creamy oak... this is intensely dark and deliciously smooth. Great with a char-grilled steak.
