Tatty Bogler by Forrest Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019

A tribute to Forrest family friend and wine mentor, the late Howard Patterson, a visionary who recognised the viticultural potential of the Waitaki Valley in Central Otago. Cocooned by mountains on all sides, the Waitaki Valley wine-growing region lies 40km inland from the Pacific Ocean, stretching a mere 20km between Duntroon and Kurow on the southern flanks of the Waitaki River. Here they grow inky, dark plum coloured Pinot Noir with intense aromas of cherry, cranberries and raspberry, complemented by an earthy herbal note. The sumptous palate offers baked rhubarb, damson plums and savoury notes, with a strong backbone of chalky fine tannins and focused acidity. It’s nicely integrated, complex, with excellent balance and persistent length.
