The Wine
Briar Ridge is a Hunter Valley estate with Five Red Stars, which has not hesitated to venture into other regions too, as it has here with this 95pt, Gold-winning "unique, captivating blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Barbera, Cabernet Franc and Malbec..." from vineyards in Wrattonbully. It's a "beautifully aromatic and flowing red wine. Heady and exotic with dark chocolate, Turkish delight, mulberry, rhubarb and pink guava... drinking beautifully now." Huon Hooke in The Real review compliments its: "frisky acidity and elegant weight".
