5 Red Star Halliday-rated Gundog Estate is a boutique, family owned winery with cellar doors in the Hunter Valley and just outside Canberra. The winery's name is a cheeky nod to the family's cocker spaniel – the failed gundog, Karl Marx. For their 92pt Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the cool climes of Canberra is combined with Shiraz from Hilltops. A vibrantly coloured pink, the wine has enticing aromas of cherry, mulberry and spice. The palate features a delicate balance of red fruits, citrus-like acidity and the softest touch of tannin. It's moreish and dry, making this a perfect food wine for sunny afternoons.
