The Wine
Holm Oak takes its name from its grove of oak trees, planted around the beginning of the 20th century. It’s a 5-star rated estate and a true family affair, with winemaker Rebecca Duffy bringing extensive winemaking experience from sites in Australia and California, and husband Tim, a viticultural agronomist. They like their Pinot here, (Noir and Gris) even the family’s pet pig is called Pinot. “Pale in the glass with inviting aromas of crunchy nashi pear, citrus and green apple fruits with hints of sea spray, almond paste, crushed stone, white flowers and cut fennel. There's some nice slinky texture on the palate, tension, too, with typical high-tensile minerality and a lovely stony dry finish and an appealing saline bite. 91pts” (Dave Brookes, The Halliday Wine Companion). Huon Hooke in The Real Review notes: "refreshing and crisp with reserved but tense flavour and balanced, refreshing acidity".
