In 1847, the people of Krondorf began a wine industry that helped lay the foundation for what the Barossa is today. The team behind Krondorf 'Into the Vines' are no strangers to upholding a legacy. Krondorf is named for an historic village at the heart of the Barossa settled by European migrants in 1847. They chose the name, German for ‘Crown Village’, and helped spark the region’s long love affair with wine.
The winery itself was founded back in 1978 by a group of maverick young winemakers that included the great Grant Burge. Within a year, Krondorf had claimed the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy, one of the country’s most prized wine show trophies. Nearly 50 years on, Nick Badrice heads the winemaking team that continues to push Barossa wines into the stratosphere, crafting brilliant quality drops. They also happen to be good mates of ours, which is how we’ve pulled off this stunning coup: the Into The Vines Barossa Shiraz, a deliciously rich Double Gold medal-winning sensation, is made exclusively for us.
Look for fresh aromas of raspberry and dark berry, bright and textural redcurrants with a hint of spice. Elegant and refined with subtle oak, a persistent length and a supple tannin finish. This one scooped a Double Gold in its debut vintage, and has won Double Gold again for this great 2022 – it’s a real treat for the senses!
