Longview Vineyard Yakka Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2016

Yakka is named after the hardy Xanthorrhoea flowering plant which is ubiquitous in Australia and found around Longview’s perimeter. The 2017 Yakka Shiraz has a dark violet hue, with lifted aromas of raspberries and plum, anise and baking spices. The palate is plush, and tannins are silky smooth with well-integrated oak characters. Excellent to drink now and will benefit with 10+ years cellaring. "From four estate blocks, matured for 15 months in new and used French hogsheads. A most attractive wine that has taken full advantage of the '17 vintage, with its finesse, length and elegance. The red and black cherry/berry fruits intermingle with notes of spice and oak. The balance and length of this medium-bodied wine can't be faulted...95pts" (Halliday).
