This acclaimed Shiraz, named after Wirra Wirra's founder, Robert Strangways Wigley, was one of the very few Australian wines to be exported to England and the Empire, until his death in 1925. Wirra Wirra’s “winemaking team of Paul Smith and Paul Carpenter, continue to forge along the path of excellence first trod by the late (and much loved) Greg Trott” (James Halliday).
“...a dramatic exhibition of what could be achieved in the vintage with ultra careful fruit sorting; it is profoundly fragrant and flavoured, with black fruits, bitter chocolate and spice spearing through the long palate… 96 points” (James Halliday)
