The Wine
German couple Dr Willi and Gudrun Schumacher founded Bellarmone in WA’s Pemberton in 2000 after “searching the world for an ideal place to plane vines…” They specialise in Rieslings but this Shiraz is highly successful, as Mike Bennie says in the Halliday Wine Companion. He calls it: “Big plum, big spice. A lavish shiraz of potency, supple texture, depth and richness but with decent lift and a touch of smoky paprika spice. A lovely red from all angles, generous… wonderfully drinkable. Utter charm. 94pts.” Gabrielle Poy writing in The Real Review in 2022 agrees “This is a harmonious and delicious young Shiraz that hits the mark”
