Nightfall is an enterprise of Sam Brand and Peter Weinberg, to promote, as Campbell Mattinson notes: "One prime site in Coonawarra, boasting terra rossa soil over a base of limestone and growing 3 classic varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The aim – which thus far is unswervingly high – is to express this vineyard site, via the wines, with the same kind of clarity as the stars in the night sky above. It sounds like a stretch until you taste the wines that, at least so far, have proven revelatory." Ray Jordan Wine Pilot raves that it: "Speaks so much of Coonawarra with the red fruits and chalky limestone characters evident immediately... A stylish and expressive wine with plenty of cellaring time. 97pts."
