The Wine
Don’t miss this Signature Argentine Malbec from Opi Sadler, nicknamed ‘The Magician’ for good reason. Rodolfo Sadler is also affectionately known as Opi, and one of Argentina’s most exciting talents. He’s an easy going, affable man, with a hint of mischief in his eyes – yet he’s incredibly modest. When probed about the secret of crafting such exceptional wines, he simply shrugs and says, “this is how my family has always made wine.” And why ‘Opi’? The nickname comes from his childhood, when his little sister would follow him through the family vineyards, calling out ‘Opi, Opi’, as she couldn’t quite pronounce his name. Now, four decades on and an internationally renowned winemaker, the name’s firmly stuck. "Vibrant aromas of blueberry, blackberry and dark cherry lift from the glass, with hints of vanilla, graphite and tobacco wafting through. Fruit-driven palate of plum and blackberry flavours, melding together with savoury and earthy notes. Like any good Mendoza, made for a celebratory steak meal." (John Lehmann, The Australian).
