RedHeads Barrel Monkeys Shiraz 2023

A beloved member of the RedHeads family, this bold Shiraz is bursting with rich McLaren Vale flavours of black fruits with a hint of chocolate. It’s named in honour of cellarhands, affectionately known as ‘barrel monkeys’, the junior members of the winemaking team who have the dubious honour of handling all the hefty manual tasks during vintage. Whether it’s hosing out two-tonne fermenters or climbing up to check on barrels, it’s their tireless work that makes each vintage possible. So it’s only fitting for a wine named after these heavy-lifters to pack a punch of its own. For years it has been a firm favourite – Halliday once referred to it as “joyously juicy”, and the last two vintages were both Gold medallists. Now, thanks to those hard-working barrel monkeys at RedHeads HQ, it’s back with a delicious new vintage.
