Wine Summary
Gamay is the extremely attractive grape that makes France’s Beaujolais so very appealing. You don't often see it in Australia but when you do you wonder why. Chris Coulter practices minimum intervention with his Coulter Wines enterprise, sourcing grapes mainly from the Adelaide Hills. This is “… charming and inviting on the nose with raspberry, sweet strawberry, floral and subtle spice aromas, leading to a silky-smooth palate offering youthful fruit flavours with silky texture and fine-grained tannins, making it delightfully drinkable.” (Sam Kim Wine Orbit). “… simply a delicious lightweight fresh red, a perfect summer drink. Gentle, supple texture, the wine has crisp acidity and a lingering persistence… a first-class Gamay and will provide pleasure for the next several years.” (Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot).

This heads more to into Spanish territory. “A 50/35/15% blend of tempranillo/carignan/grenache, the vines 15 to 73 years old…Has cherries of all types and colours; the texture a bonus.94pts. Great Value” (Halliday) Stuart Knox in The Real Review likes its “ Dense ruby hue from core to the glass rim. Blackberry, cola, and vanilla bean aromatics. A richness of black fruit fills from entry while supple vanilla and cola spices flow around the edges. Tannins are silken and supple, ensuring a soft glide to the finish. Good value here.”

Wine Summary
From an estate set up in 1996, by Simon Sorby Adams, who purchased a 3.2ha vineyard that had been planted by Pastor Franz Julius Lehmann (none other than Peter Lehmann’s father) in 1932. Simon Sorby Adams has three children, Angus, Digby and Sally, from which the portmanteau GUDILLY is derived. The wines are sourced from the Adelaide region in South Australia, these wines are made using emerging varieties, and with freshness and drinkability in mind. This certainly ties in with Sam Kim, Wine Orbit's opinion. Scoring it 91pts, Sam writes: "It's delightfully fragrant on the nose with sweet berry, subtle spice, olive and floral aromas, followed by a beautifully rounded palate that's silky-smooth and supple. Well balanced and attractively expressed, offering friendly drinking."
