The Wine
Savour a TRIPLE-Gold, 95pt "thoroughly engaging" (Halliday) McLaren Vale Grenache from the brilliant Elena Brooks' top-rated Dandelion Vineyards. "Half destemmed and crushed over whole bunches; a third new and two-thirds seasoned barrels. Oak pops up a little, though that's enhanced by minor reduction. The fruit is up to it though, both somewhat transparent in reflection yet also deeply powerful. It’s bunchy, smoky, a little mezcal tinged with some green chilli. Within lie abundant red fruits – cherries, berries, pomegranate – billowing florals and raspberry leaf tea. It’s juicy, expansive, yet also enmeshed in savoury stem flavour and structure, which is a consistent feature of this cuvée –grenache in a Dujac mould, if you will. On that level, it’s thoroughly engaging. 95pts" (Marcus Ellis, The Halliday Wine Companion). Marcus Ellis
