Meet the third vintage of an excellent Barossa Shiraz made exclusively for us. Following the 95pt 2021, this has already won Gold and 95pts. It’s made using fruit selected from the estate's Ebenezer vineyard, named in honour of the late Ruth Miles, mother of Peter Miles and wife of Brian Miles. As our buyer said when the debut vintage was released, “Having a winery the calibre of Irvine make a wine just for us is a big deal. Mostly because they don’t need to. They already sell everything they make. So when Irvine agreed, it was mostly because they like us.” It’s nice to be liked! And it means some exceptional wines for you – at extraordinary prices.
Irvine Estate is home to Barossa vineyards that date back to 1867. The estate is famous for its majestic Merlot but Irvine Estate is sending ripples around the industry with its old-vine Shiraz as well. Indeed, Irvine took home the Trophy for 'Best Barossa Shiraz' at the Barossa Valley Wine Show in 2017, ahead of BIG Barossa names like Teusner, Grant Burge, Peter Lehmann, St Hallett and Thorn-Clarke!
Of the 2021 vintage, Sam Kim Wine Orbit wrote: "This is terrific; the perfumed bouquet shows blackberry, vanillin oak, cake spice and dark chocolate notes, leading to a bold yet supple palate displaying excellent weight and beautifully layered mouthfeel. Silky and flavoursome, offering fabulous drinking. At its best: now to 2036. 95pts"
