The Wine
91pt very popular Shiraz from Mountadam's high-altitude vines in High Eden. Located in the High Eden sub-region of the Barossa, Mountadam was originally established in 1972 by the late David Wynn for his winemaking son Adam. Since 2005, it has returned to being a family owned and run winery, with David and Jenni Brown overseeing its success. Quality has got better and better, and now with Caitlin Brown as chief winemaker, they have a very fine and deserved reputation indeed. High Eden’s chilly heights lead to harvests up to a month later than those in neighbouring Eden Valley. The result is gorgeous Shiraz like this, full of blue fruit and peppery acidity."Pristine and fruit forward, the wine shows dark plum, sweet cherry, clove and hazelnut notes on the nose, followed by a silky palate displaying juicy fruit flavours with well-balanced tannins, finishing smooth and lingering.91pts." (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit).
