A real treat. 95pt, Great Value Cabernet Sauvignon using fruit of “superb purity" (Halliday) from high-altitude High Eden vineyards.
”… with uber-pure blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry fruits. Hints of mixed spice, violets, briar, licorice, cedar, bay leaf and vanilla bean. Mountadam is really getting some superb purity and detail out of its fruit lately and this wine is a worthy follow-up to the stellar '21 release. 95pts. Great Value.” (Dave Brookes, The Halliday Wine Companion).
Mountadam was originally established in 1972 by the late David Wynn for his winemaking son Adam. Since 2005, it has returned to being a family owned and run winery, with David and Jenni Brown overseeing its success.
The wine is named after David’s father, Milton Brown. Traditionally known as the best Cabernet or Cabernet blend from the Estate the 2021 vintage saw this wine as a straight Cabernet Sauvignon due to the high quality of a single block (21), located in High Eden, a sub-region of the Barossa, approximately 550 metres above sea level. Soils are 500 million years old and although it’s an inhospitable place to grow vines, fruit quality is exceptional.
