This is the new vintage release of Ben Riggs' Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir is elegant, refined with fine structure and power. and is named after Ben’s mother, Valerie, the Matriarch of the Riggs family.
Ben Riggs explains his reasons for naming it after his Mum: "I wanted it to be rich and flavoursome, and so I wanted a name that covered ‘strong but elegant’. I literally put in a Google search for a French word for ‘strong but elegant’ and up popped ‘valerie’ – which is my mother's name. “That’s why the words on the label on the back could describe my mother. She’s very much from her era, she’s not loud but she's incredibly strong and tough. At 93 years old, she's still amazingly fit and healthy."Bright, floral, and aromatic, with notes of cherry, raspberry and savoury spice. The palate is soft and supple, framed by juicy, soft red fruits and silky tannins. Pair with your favourite poultry dish, salad, or cheeses. The Woodside vineyard, where the fruit for this wine is sourced, is a cool climate vineyard planted in a heavy clay. Due to the cooler vintage, the fruit was picked in late April, in the early hours of the morning to help maintain natural acidity.
Previous vintages have won considerable acclaim, expect more for this fine 2025.
