Enjoy flavours of "Citrus and white peach, apple sorbet, green fig" (Halliday) in this stylish and super-fresh, 92pt modern-style of Chardonnay from elevated vineyard Adelaide Hills sites.
Thistledown was founded in 2010 by Giles Cooke and Fergal Tynan, both Master of Wine. Giles Cooke – historian and lover of the world’s finest Grenache – became tired of inter-national stereotypes of Australian wine. They work closely with growers throughout McLaren Vale, Barossa and the Adelaide Hills. Thistledown might specialise in Grenache but can produce very stylish whites like this Chardonnay as well.
This 2023 Chardonnay comes:"From two sites, one in Gumeracha and the other Lenswood. The juice was settled in tank before wild fermentation in French oak and concrete egg. Citrus and white peach, apple sorbet, green fig; this is cool fruited but flavourful, with a little oak spice and nuttiness, the creamy mid-palate temporarily sheathing the vivid acidity, the finish pleasantly brisk with a lime pith note to close. 92pts." (Marcus Ellis, The Ha;liday Wine Companion).
