at the prestigious London Wine Competition and World’s Best Vineyard. Over half
of the estate’s vineyards are over 50 years old, and the fruit is all certified
organic and biodynamic.

d’Arenberg is famous for the quality of its wines. It is also renowned for its colourfully named wines. Some of the more notable ones include Stephanie the Gnome with Rose Coloured Glasses, Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, The Cenosilicaphobic Cat, The Athazagoraphobic Cat, The Old Bloke & Three Young Blondes, The Malaysian Swinger, The Innocent Weed, The Dead Arm and more. One of the most-loved wines is The Footbolt, which is named after one of Joseph Osborn’s beloved racehorses. We are honoured that our exclusive ‘The Thunderstep’ is also named after one of these racehorses.

Raised on the family property where father ‘d’Arry’ Osborn made wines, Chester Osborn became chief winemaker at d’Arenberg in 1983, rejuvenating the 70-year-old cellars and 19th century vineyards but stil using traditional methods in both the vineyards and the winery. That’s where the traditional part stops! Chester’s loud shirts, flamboyant personality, and outlandish stories are as memorable as they are legendary. Other estates have a cellar door. He has the d’Arenberg Cube, complete with a tasting room, art gallery, restaurant, sensory area, 360° video space and an alternative realities museum. It’s a ‘must-visit’ – and remember, when you do, you’ll get extra-special Vineyard Partner treatment!
