Beyond the Labels
What a gorgeous case. Enjoy three lipsmacking whites from the Adelaide Hills, Margaret River, and the Great Southern, then relax with three luscious Rosés, including Sam Trimboli's new Pink Duck, Dowie Doole's exciting McLaren Vale drop and the BIG, full-flavoured Patronus South Australian Rosé. Did someone say picnic? Or a barbecue? Or lunch by the water somewhere? Yes please!
This unique Provence-inspired Rosé is dry, fresh and crisp with exceptional depth of flavour and vibrant acidity. Made from 89% Grenache from 1965 planted vines and 11% Vermentino for texture, crispness and further aromatics. The fruit is from Tatachilla in McLaren Vale, not far back for the South Australian coast. Expect citrus, strawberry, raspberry and confectionery flavours and aromas.
Great wine starts with individuals who share a great passion for winemaking and viticulture, those who are prepared to look deeper than the rest, work a little harder and stay that bit longer. In addition, they intimately know their craft. This Pinot Grigio shows all the hallmarks of a traditional Italian style, with a nose overflowing with nashi pear and white blossom. It's perfect for looooong summer lunches.
Since the launch of the first Yarrunga Field, Sam Trimboli has been delighting customers with his fabulous wines and winning awards. They don't call him 'Mr Medals' for nothing! Only in the last four years has he set up his own family winery and, in our opinion, is producing even better wines. He has made us the dark, spicy Black Duck from Durif, and the White Chardonnay Pinot Grigio Duck, but this is his first, and very delicious, rosé. Sam is from Italian heritage – his grandfather grew vines in Italy 90 years ago and his parents emigrated here in 1967 – so perhaps it's of no surprise that he has used nearly all Montepulciano here. A splash of Vermentino adds extra lemony zip. A pretty hue, lovely ripe fruit and zesty freshness.
