Wine Summary
Sam Trimboli LOVES Durif. He calls it a “stunning little powerhouse grape that develops astounding complexity”. The numberplate on his car even sports the word ‘Durif’, that’s how highly he rates it. The grapes for this wine come from a small vineyard that Sam helped establish in the 1980s and is now at peak maturity. It’s a big, rich, barrel-aged red that will definitely impress - as the two Gold medals attest.

"Coriole has earned its reputation as one of the blue-blood producers of McLaren Vale” (James Halliday). "What Coriole does better than any other McLaren Vale maker is to fashion wines of such balance and finesse ... equipped with the structure, balance and layers of fruit to unfold slowly” (Jeremy Oliver). We're not arguing with these fine critics! This McLaren Vale Shiraz is made exclusively for us and is a wonderful showcase of what the region does best. Savour subtle lavender aromas and a melange of black fruit and spice on a long, smooth finish.

Wine Summary
For over 20 years, John Quarisa has worked as a winemaker for some of the most recognisable wineries in Australia. During his time at Casella, he was instrumental in securing them the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy in 2004. John has since branched out to create a range of wines that bear his family name. This particular range, named after his wife Josephine Quarisa, features this outstanding Coonawarra Cabernet, which over a couple of vintages has picked up several Golds. This one has FOUR - including a Double Gold, something Mrs Q must be stoked about.
"...Oak flavours dominate but grainy tannin and curranty fruit get a fair look in. It's toasty with a bit going for it" (Halliday).

Wine Summary

The name of this exciting new Shiraz gives a nod to a colourful footnote in the rich history of the Hamilton winemaking clan. Before Richard Hamilton emigrated to Australia in 1837 to establish South Australia’s first commercial vineyard, he had run a well-known tailoring business in the UK Port of Dover. His interest in wine had also led to a sideline business of ‘importing’ French wine from over the English Channel – under the cover of darkness!

Five generations on Dr. Richard Hamilton owns the estate and he and chief winemaker Paul Gordon maintain the family tradition of excellence. Shiraz vines for The Smuggler grow just 10km from the sea – so as well as intensely flavoured dark and spicy fruit, the wine displays wonderful freshness too. It has gone down a storm with wine writers – and customers who have tasted it
