Beyond the Labels
Here's a cracking mix of true blue Aussie reds that feature high in the list of our customers' 'buy again and again' list. Look forward to bestselling favourites like Kilikanoon Baroota Shiraz, Caravan, The Black Pig Reserve Shiraz, Black Duck Durif, Cairncross Barossa Cabernet and more.
The Barossa is world famous for its big, rich, concentrated reds. Its old vines are virtually national treasures, and the region is home to some of Australia’s most iconic estates and most famous wines. Like the Barossa, Cairncross is a byword for big, rich Australian reds, and this inky, layered, complex and majestic Cabernet delivers on the promise. It bursts with intense, inky black fruit, and savoury herbs, complemented by notes of sweet vanilla and delicious spice. The palate is rich, smooth and long. Invite your friends around for a lamb roast and enjoy!
Crafted by the great Kevin Mitchell at Kilikanoon, who is famous for his outstanding Shiraz. His wines have regularly achieved a huge 98 points from Robert Parker and his top Shiraz sells for over $500 a bottle! Baroota is a 'special project' red, grapes selected from a number of top, early ripening vineyards between premium areas Spencer Gulf and the Flinders Ranges. Vinified in small batches, rich, powerful and intense, it's best decanted then served with steak or lamb.
Once your wine arrives, slow right down. Be patient with this wine and it will reward your handsomely – decant for half an hour and the transformation is magical. Once the juice loosens up and releases its hidden depths, it develops an aroma that is just divine. Discover liquorice, blackcurrant, cherry, blackberry and bitter cocoa mirrored on the palate with turbo-charged punch and power. And the finish? It goes on forever…
John Quarisa is a Jimmy Watson Trophy-winner and his Petite Sirah (Durif to many Aussies) is a Gold-medal magnet - every vintage so far has triumphed with Gold, this has two so far. Once you get past the hilarious label that pokes fun at the French, you’ll discover an inky coloured, full-bodied wine lurking beneath with a fairly gutsy, tannic palate and buckets of juicy plummy and licorice flavour. It's lavishly smooth, dark stuff.
Western Australia’s idyllic Manjimup region is one of the most remote wine districts in the world. With mineral-rich soils, a pristine natural environment and a relatively cool climate, it’s home to world-class wines, like this elegant and expressive Merlot.
