The Wine
Provençal rosé delivers a style that trumps all others both for devoted fans of elegant pinks, and increasingly, for those who once viewed pink in one as a colour to be avoided. Provence is the only wine region to specialise in rosé production, and as one of the oldest cellars in the region, the cooperative behind this beauty has been crafting fine rosé since 1912. Owned by a small group of growers, its modest size ensures meticulous care in both vineyard and cellar. Grenache and Cinsault make up a large portion of this pink and were harvested from the high-altitude, limestone slopes of Sainte-Baume. Full of fresh berry flavour with a crisp mineral edge and a dry finish – it's great solo and versatile with food. "Aromas of red fruits, raspberry and rhubarb waft from the glass, along with a hint of distant lavender. Rhubarb, freshly cut watermelon flavours flow through the palate, with grapefruit pith chiming into a refreshing finish. Creamy texture. Pan-fried snapper comes to mind." (John Lehmann, The Australian).
