What type of wine is Adelaide Hills known for?
The Adelaide Hills is most famous for its elegant, restrained Sauvignon Blanc, which accounts for a third of the region’s total wine production. Other popular varieties include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Shiraz. It’s also known for organic, biodynamic, and minimal-intervention wines, with a group of pioneering winemakers, dubbed the Basket Range Revolutionaries, leading the charge.

The Adelaide Hills wine region lies in the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges, just a 30-minute drive from the bustling city of Adelaide. This long, narrow strip of land stretches from the Barossa Valley down to McLaren Vale. Despite being nestled between these warmer regions, its high elevation gives it a distinctly cool climate.
